Barone appeared in The Shoes, an episode of Seinfeld in season 4. Barone plays Gail Cunningham as a chef that wants Elaine Benes' shoes. The early 1990s saw her was a regular member in the show Carol & Company with actress Carol Burnett. Barone was Carol Willick Ross Geller in her first Friends episode. Also, she was an ex-wife to Carol Willick Ross Geller. The show ended her time as she wanted to pursue a more full-time role she was taken over by Jane Sibbett. After three years, The War at Home ended the film's run, Barone took on a role of recurring in the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up as the character of Officer Georgia Jones the mother of Bella Thorne's character CeCe Jones. Matthew Glave, Barone's husband and actor Matthew Glave guest starred as J.J. Jones in two episodes.
